Calcium oxide can regulate the alkalinity of sintered ore, giving it a suitable mineral composition and structure, and improving its strength and reducibility. Appropriate alkalinity helps to form mineral phases such as calcium ferrite with higher strength, reduce the formation of glass like substances, and thus improve the quality and metallurgical properties of sintered ore.
